I've almost got most of my turbo parts, but I'm thinking of ordering the piston/rod/sleeve package from one of the sponsors on the board. The pistons in the package are Arias pistons, and they're comp is 8.4. I'm aiming for 300 - 350 whp and wanted to double check if this would work. If I were to go with higher compression though, I guess milling the head would work yeh?

 

I'd leave the head alone, and go with a higher static compression of 9.0 and above, unless A) you're using a very small turbocharger, in which its efficiency range is that low, B) you plan on running some 87 octane swill C) you don't really care about your off-boost, and transient response in between gears. 9.0:1-10.0:1 is highly recommended.

But hes only offering the Arias pistons which are 8.4; any other piston recommendations? Or are they basically all the same when it comes to longevity?

CPs pistons and Wiseco have more compression choices that are available. If you're sleeving, you can use either one. I personally like Wiseco for their cost and history, and CP for their compression choices, like their 9.7:1.

Thanks for the input dude, I guess it comes down to weather or not I want to shell out more for higher comp pistons lol , thanks

 

If it was me, I'd go with the package then buy Wisecos seperately. From the looks of it, you'd still be saving a lot, as long as you don't mind selling the arias pistons on ebay/etc for $25-50 less than you buy your Wisecos for.

Got SRP pistons 8:2:1 compression ratio (I know, I know, should have gone for something elsE), OEM .030mm headgasket but then had the machine shop take 0.5mm of the head to raise compression again. Any has an idea how much that 0.5mm will do the compression ratio?

Just to clear things, this is for a darton sleeved B16 setup.
