Default Oil in Spark Plug Wells - Part 3

Hi:

There were 2 previous posts on oil in spark plug wells and both had replies with some pretty good information. But ... one of them said that after you clean out the spark plug wells, you can use the starter to turn over the engine a dozen times to get rid of the stuff in the cylinders but not to try to start the engine with the liquid in the cylinders (and then do the valve cover job which would be needed, etc.)

I am not a mechanic and don't know how the heck you use the starter to turn the engine over - can someone please explain this if they have a minute? BTW - I own a 1994 Honda Civic DX 4-door sedan.

Thanks.

Suessy

pull the plugs out, disconnect the distributer, turn the key and let the car turn over a few times.

i didn't read the other threads -- what fluid are you trying to get rid of? solvent or something?
