i just paid 300$ for a Super clean ef hatch. no rust. just a little bubble. found it in some guys front yard. asked bout it and he said 300$ had a bad knock so im just doing a swap. then got myself a clean ef with a b16 for cheap.

Seeing as I have bought 3 cars in the past 7 months on craigslist. I think I'm pretty much a pro at this question.

People on craigslist are all euphoric bastards. And they ALWAYS generate price by simply looking at the car. Not actual mechanical integrity. If the car looks awesome, they are going to put their price high. Every car I have ever bought on craigslist I go and see the car I see in the add. Then I drive the car I didn't expect to drive.

Lesson two. Every car is rebuilt on craigslist. I'm serious, all of them. "OMG 205k on body BUT ONLY 50k/70k/80k on rebuild!" Those are the only milages you will see. Is this true? Hell no, but on a test drive will you honestly be able to tell? Almost no one does a compression test anymore (I don't) and you better believe the guy has been cleaning the engine bay with 409 for the past 3 hours. And of course the valvecover has been removed several times by some kid and painted pistachio green so the gasket is relatively fresh.

Lesson three. If you're going to see the car and the guy goes "Okay call me when you're close" Just say okay and don't call. If you show up and the guy is in any way working on the car theres usually a reason. By all means give the guy a time frame of when you will show up. Thats all he should need.

hahahahaha lol this turned into a rant.

Umm, for an EF civic the "uber clean" ones go for around +-3200 the average cars go for +-2300

It's not at all close to what they are worth but everyones an ******* so you can't really do anything about it.

My advice is look for one that isn't really all that clean, but with relatively low miles and seems to be descripted as well cared for, and clean it yourself. If theres a mexican guy in a beanie poppin' pills in the third picture like this one http://seattle.craigslist.org/....html then I dunno, take that as you will.

Keep in mind deals are everywhere. And if your willing to fix some things here and there you can get some sweet deals. My brother bought a $350 crx that needed a headgasket. Did the headgasket and drove it through highschool and 2 years of college then sold it for $500.
