V10 5.0 500hp of goodness. New Lexus/Toyota LFA pics

Looks like Toyota finally started designing something nice?
Why do all the Lexus designs minus the RX look nice, while the Toyota designers make an end product that looks like crap.

But the million dollar question is: Are you going to need to have a million dollars to afford one? Or more precisely, is this thing going to be priced well out of the realm of affordability for the average person? I have a feeling that this one is probably going to be priced at least TWICE as high as the Supra (which in itself was not cheap, but at least attainable for the masses). It would also be nice if the V10 was swappable into Supras. But the Japanese automakers don't seem to be into crate motors in the same way that American automakers are. Oh well.

Wheres the anti domestic crew when you need them. "OMG that corvette has 8 cylinders and only makes 505 hp with pushrods...what crap technology blah blah blah."
Hmm, 10 cylinders and produces 500hp. Decent but it looks like the pushrod Z06 wins here. Ill buy a z06 when i get the $$$.

Not knocking the z06 at all, but which has more displacement?

The LS7 certainly does not win here - except for torque. And even the torque advantage might not be as big as you think if the LS7 has taller gears (and domestic automakers seem to really LOVE the idea of 1000RPM at 70MPH). Although the LS7 has two fewer cylinders and pushrods AND produces 5 more HP, it is also bigger by a whopping two liters! That's a displacement increase of 40% with almost the same HP (although that 2.0 liters of extra displacement surely makes for more torque - at least at the crank). Remember that in the grander scheme of things, displacement means more than the number of cylinders. Mazda, for instance, produced a 1.8 liter V6 back around 1990. And it produced exactly the same HP (130HP) as the 1.8 liter four banger in the Integra of the time.

stormin matt, its about power under the curve...not top end power.
i'll take displacement anyday over more cylinders and less displacement...and this isn't taking anything away from toyota's design...just saying i'll have a big displacement american v8 anyday when it comes in the form of an ls x.

Methinks toyota is NOT [freak]ing around with this thing; especially after how well received and well performing the Nissan GTR has been. I'll be surprised if it's under $100k; but looking at the current Lexus pricing on other cars it should be well worth it.

oh absolutely, the regular model will without a doubt be a contender. but its been confirmed its gonna be 100k+ already.
but that is NOT the regular model haha, its their racecar. just pointing that out
