What is it about my air conditioner?
It seems like everytime I'm driving down the road and I turn my air conditioner on, my car has a more difficult time accelerating. Could you tell me why?
simple
A/C puts a drag on the motor and uses some HP.... However under Wide Open Throttle, the A/C is automatically switched off by the ECU to give you the best possible performance.
I do not notice much difference with it on or off driving around town or on the FWY

If you're car has a lot of miles, the bearings on the AC compressor will have been worn, which will cause more parasitic drag. You can get a new compressor, if you want, but it really shouldn't matter.
