Default 06 Si vs 04 RSX-S

Been looking for an 02-04 RSX but I could stretch for an 06 Si down in the 17-18k range. What would you guys do? From what I've gathered the Si has a superior chassis and the essential LSD, but drive by wire and electric steering I have DBW on my mazda 3 right now and it's down right awful. Is it as bad in the Si? How about the steering feel? The car will be a daily driver and I also plan on participating in autox/HPDE events with it. Has anyone driven both?

You cant compare an SI to a Mazda 3! Steering is great, responsive and smooth.

There are a couple people who auto x on here but I cant help you with that.

I know you can't compare the cars, just wanted to know if the drive by wire was as bad as it is on this car.

I found an 07 Si sedan 11k miles honda CPO at a dealer for 18.9k. Good deal or no?

The drive by wire system and electric power steering are both very responsive.

Don't let the names or experiences with other cars fool you......the car handles beautifully. Get out and drive it and you'll see what I'm talking about.

I have a 2002 RSX-S now, after having a 2006 Si... the RSX blows... not in a good way.

Turning radius isnt as good. Steering is kinda sloppy. Handling blows. It doesn't really pick up on the revs as quickly as the Si does, and the gears in the Si are better on gas. (not by a lot).

The Si is a WHOLE NEW MACHINE.... just because they share a few parts doesnt even put these cars close to eachother. I honestly would like to see how a Integra Type-R feels VS a 2006 Si. I would bet the R isn't much better at handling if you sat them on the same tires.

Throttle cable.

The only benefit of the RSX is the readily available tuning solutions and that there are more parts for the vehicle. And rightfully so, the RSX has been on the market longer. With the revised suspension system on the Si, from a handling aspect, will run circles around an RSX both stock and modification for modification.

Haha nice plate. I've been reading a few other topics on this and it seems Si is the way to go. Though I did see car and driver spanked the Si with a cobalt SS by ~5 seconds on VIR and the SS is another car I've been considering. The 350z results they had were impressive to say the least as well. Car buying is a nightmare!

Whatever you do, just dont buy a used si.

Cuz I know if I was taking my baby back, I would be driving the **** out of it lol.

However 11k for 18 is not that bad.

I'd feel safer buying a used Si than a used DSM or EVO

Yeah, but try driving the SS and it's a no-brainer. Si >>> SS.

SS feels like a cheap piece of ****, imo.

To the OP, you can't just buy a car based on it's performance features. You must take a look at it's fuel efficiency, comfort, safety, etc... There's more to a great car than just it's speed.

There is a reason they discontinued the Cobalt SS... so DONT GET IT.

Also yeah the Si is really one of the top best overall imports in this country right now for its class/price range. 200hp sporty car, comfortable interior, 2 and 4dr availability. The fact that it can easily get 30+mpg (I used to get 31.xxxmpg on shell V-Power while using VTEC no less than once a day), great warranty, great community. What else do you really want?

To clarify...the Cobalt SS/SC is faster than a Civic Si, not the Cobalt SS. For some stupid reason, Chevy made two SSs...one with the SC, one without.

I def agree! Also one more thing you have to account for, the fun factor. Yeah it sounds corny but when you can really just have fun driving the Si. I have driven a Saturn Ion redline, which is basically a Cobalt SS and I will agree the car was quick. But the interior aside from the recaro seats, was cheap feeling. Don't go out and buy a 18k motor.

I didnt even know there was a non-SC SS model. I think now they don't have the SS at all, they just have the Cobalt Sport.

SS S/C of course. Base SS is garbage. Obviously the interior is crap but it's fast and has nice seats. It's also not 18k, 16k MAX. Just hard to find one with the G85 package. They get amazing gas mileage and make 250whp with bolt ons as well. Plus the cool supercharger noises VREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE But I could SC a civic to... Hmm SC K20 I'll deff have to check both out then make a decision. Thanks for the Si input though guys!
