Default Some First Performance Mods

I'm going to soon start moding a Civic Ek and I'm starting in the engine. I'm running a pretty low budget and was wondering what are some first engine mods that are (1) not very hard to bolt on (2) will give me significant power gains and (3) wont kill my wallet. Thanx for the help!

With only bolt-ons, #2 is out of the question! I/H/E

H\E\I dose not give good HP gains and are a waste , unless you are sprying! save for boost or spry but spry is no allowed on the streets at least not in va

A short shifter with a D series engine would help, they usually have a pretty long throw. Don't just get a $9.99 one of ebay though...they break eventually when you're rippin through the gears.
