Default Labor for motor/manual swap

I was quoted $1430 for an h22a swap + manual conversion for my 94 auto.

Is this reasonable? Sounds really high

if that price includes parts, has in engine, tranny, ecu, etc. then its a great deal...

but if not... then you should come down here in southern cali, and i have a few lude members that can do that for you... for A LOT less

+1 gotjnco's post. If $1430 includes everything, then that's a steal. Of course, your title stated "Labor..." so then again...maybe not.

My '98 Prelude is in the shop as we speak. I'm getting an auto-to-manual swap. The entire transmission swap is going to cost me around $2500. The shop (Project Import, for those of you in SoCal) quoted me $600 or $700 for labor.

Blacktrax quoted me $1430 for just "3-5 days" labor. Tech3 quoted me 1500 labor.

I don't mind payin it if it's actually the average shop quote for my area, so just seein if it is..

are you forreals? seriously? it costs about 1500 for a h22a longblock + tranny since he's doing the 5spd. from what i remember 2 years ago when i did my swap, i was quoted about 1650 for the swap. all the shops i went to says the book states it's a 16 hour job for swap out and swap in. over here mechanics charge $88/hr x 16 + tax to that and it's about 1650. 1430 is a great price.

but like other ppl said, if i were you, i'd do the job myself. buy a Helms and invest in a week. best way to learn about your car. first mod i ever did to my car... engine swap.

only if he has the time, some knowledge, and a ton of patience to do this himself. if you're just trying to get this finished w/o much hassle, a shop is the way to go, if you have a bit of time to spare, place to do it, some decent tools, why not ?

Buy your motor from a reliable source. H-motorsonline.com is the way to go. I bought the cheapest motor I could find and spent the better part of winter fixing every single thing on the motor. Giant Pain in the *** and way more exspensive than Just out right buying one from H-Motors.
