Default Suspension Setup

Hey everyone

I'm new to the whole car modding scene. Anyway, I have a 2000 civic that I'm going to lower with the help of some friends. Here is the parts that I'm planning on getting.

Eibach Sportline Springs
Tokico Blue Shocks
Ebay Camber kit
energy suspension bushings

Anyway, from what I read, it seems like you guys don't like tokico blues too much. Are they really that bad? If this is the case, what would you guys suggest that are in the same price range? The tokicos are 239 shipped on ebay, thats hard to beat!

Also, I'm not really sure about the bushings. Which ones do I need? Do i need a whole kit? Or just a few for the main suspension parts.

Why are you even "planning" on buying this stuff if you really aren't sure what you should be getting or why?

Normally, one would do some in-depth research on the subject before making up a list of things to blow money on, potentially wastefully.

Just because something is cheap doesn't mean you should buy it. If I offered you fecal matter for $239 in one hand and gold for $1000 in the other, which would you buy?

1. Remember to include any information relevant to your question - e.g., the vehicle you are working with (year, make, model, doors, trim level), your budget, the purpose for which you use your car, and/or your motivation for modification.

2. More background information almost always helps. For example: What suspension products have you had experience with in the past? If you're having a problem, when does it occur and what symptoms are evident?</TD></TR></TABLE>

Why are you changing your suspension, what is wrong with your current suspension that you are trying to solve by changing it, what do you expect to achieve by buying new suspension components, how much money do you have to spend on it, and what are you using the car for? Be more specific than "2000 Civic." Civic what? 3dr CX? 4dr EX? What have you already done to the car, and what do you realistically plan to do with it in the future? Also ask yourself if there are other items on the car that you should be addressing before spending money on modifications; for example, if the car needs maintenance work, you should probably spend money on that first.

Car is a 2000 civic DX 4 door. SOHC D16y7 1.6L

Sorry I kind of misworded my post. I'm planning on lowering my car mostly to close the wheel gap and I would really enjoy it if my suspension was a little stiffer.

As far as the parts I listed, I'm pretty set on the springs because of the progressive spring rates not to mention Eibach is a very well known company. I was mostly worried about the shocks. I heard they were pretty good but after reading here on this forum I'm a little concerned because many people seem to dislike them.

The car is my daily driver so I don't want to go lower than 2". The parts I listed are parts that friends suggested. For the drop I really wouldn't want to spend more than $500 since this is a pretty basic car. As far as mods go, I have a intake, Si rims, and a system. After I lower it I'm going to put a magnaflow muffler on. I'm not really sure what I want to do after that but I do know any more money I put into this car will be purely engine performance. And no, there isn't any maintenance that needs to be done, car is in great condition.

I'm really just trying to make this a budget build since the car isn't a track car or anything like that. Just trying to make the car look great and hopefully in the future it can back up the looks with great performance as well.

bump? Anyone have other suggestions? It looks like I won't be needing a camber kit since its not a big drop. I've been looking at some illuminas but they are a little out of my price range. I am mostly just expecting it to look better and ride smooth for the street.

Hey man I got my setup off a guy on HT who used to work for skunk and he hooked me up bigtime. I got brand new Skunk2 sport struts and skunk2 lowering springs shipped to my door for $340. I was on a budget as well and you cant beat that setup for the money and you know your getting good stuff with Skunk2. PM me if you want more info.

Well i had tokico blues on my 90 4dr integra with skunk 2 lowering springs they rode ok. To me the blues or more of an oem replacement type strut. So i think this is why most people are bias toward them. I am currently running Kyb struts on eibach springs on my hatch and i love them definantly way better than the tokico and skunks match up they ride way smoother and it isnt much of a big drop but it is definantly pleasant to drive. Doesnt have the infamous ricer bounce to it at all. So in my opinion the blues are ok if your just looking for an oem replacement and the skunk 2 springs where ok but id suggest eibach over them any day.
