Engine question?????
I got an 89 integra engine DOHC 1.6 in my garage and i was wondering if the wiring harness in my civic would work with the integra engine. by the way i got a d16a6 in my car right now. Would i just need to swap in the engine and plug and play or do i have to cut or add wire in the engine harness. I've heard you just have to put in the engine and the rest is plug and play that there is no modifications needed.
afraid you heard wrong - the 89 Integra D16A1 engine will not bolt into your car without fabricating a custom mount on the driver's side - the D16A1 will not bolt right up to your transmission - one of the bolts doesn't line up (bottom bolt in rear) - you can modify it to make it work by enlarging the hole in the block and putting a flat washer on it - the D16A1 does not have a hole in the block for the long starter bolt that goes thru the transmission - you can tap out the hole in the transmission and use a larger diameter bolt to attach the starter to the transmission - the harness that you have now would work, but you would need to modify it at the distributor due to the Cylinder sensor on the D16A1 being on the end of the exhaust camshaft instead of in the distributor - same distributor modification as DOHC ZC into Si - you would need to use the Civic flywheel and clutch
