i have a 95 SE lude and i been getting this problem just this week! whenever i drive and get to a stop, i put it to neutral and brake and out of no where the car turns off !!! it turns off right before i stop and ofcourse after i put it in neutral. is it some wiring problem? or maybe uses up too much electricity ( i normally have my radio blasting? i cant seem to figure it out!!! help from you guys would be appreciated! thanks!!!

 

Sounds like it might be a vacuum problem if it only happens while braking. The brakes take a lot of vacuum. Have you looked for vacuum leaks. I had a similar problem on a different car and it turned out that the brake booster was leaking.

 

thats probably it. I had a '97 with the exact same problem. Try driving through downtown Atlanta in stop and go traffic like that!

But yeah, check your hoses for a vacuum leak and that should do it!

Finally and after about $2000 I still have a mushy pedal.
Good pressure when the engine is off. Really soft and hits the floor when the vacuum kicks in. I have changed everything except the booster.
And as you said the engine sounds like it is going to stall when I apply the brakes.
