Default S2000 antenna kit.

Can anyone tell me what is all needed to convert over to an S2000 antenna on my 2001 R? Is a complete kit needed or just a few simple parts? Honda should be able to supply me with all needed components I think. Thanks guys...

IM RStoR. He makes the kits from Honda parts - it's not something Honda puts together, so unless they call RStoR, they won't be able to get one for you

Isn't radio reception horrible with the s2k antenna? Personally I do not use the radio, and would just shave it if I were to make an antenna mod.

Yes it does suck, leaks occasionally and IMO looks really crappy, I did this once before and ended up ditching it and getting the antenna plug from the early model accord DXs and getting a Metra Film antenna that has a powered booster as well:

I'd say that reception is reduced by 30% with the s2k antenna, but the coolness factor of your car will be raised by 30%, so it cancels out.

You can also use the Insight antenna - swapped one out on my old S2000, assuming you convert to the S2000 mount for the ITR - twists right on.

I got one of the cheapy ones from ebay and it was about a 5 minute install, looks good, reception is no where near what it used to be (but i dont listen to radio much), and it was 35 bux. For something that i was doing mainly as a cosmetic upgrade, it worked great for me. No word on leakage but i havent really checked. However i had a bunch of really weird, random, and unrelated problems occur after the install. Things like the first setting on my windshield wipers, my rear defroster, and the chime when keys in/lights on with door open all no longer work. Dont know how theyre connected but i still need to check fuses anyways. Might have jus blown a few during install. Overall tho, looks

I wouldn't go cheap on it. I bought one of those $30 kits w/ the piece of pipe and it sucked. I went to Honda and bought the S2K assembly for about $100 and everything went in smoothly plus then it made it possible to unscrew the mast without the whole thing falling apart

I bought that same crappy kit with the long threaded screw, the POS PCV pipe sawed off at an angle and you use the plastic base from the original. The reception was definately reduced with the S2000 antenna, especially driving through the city and the smallest obstructions like a nearby building caused static. I dont see the point in going from the OE powered unit which has great recpetion to a non powered short stubby little antenna thats always out and on a car thats prone to theft and vandalism. At least add a signal booster or something to it, and you can make the same crappy kit for maybe $5 by making a run to Home Depot or Ace hardware.

I went with the other route because its a powered antenna, and its inside the car so I dont have to worry about leaks or the potential for some jackass and coming up and playing with the antenna and or stealing it or doing whatever.
