From your description "cruise control works"; the fault usually is with the digital to analog converter in the spedometer unit.
A salvage yard replacement might be the easiest course of action.
You need to note the milage difference from the units when you change them; some states require this.

the problem may be that the speedo needle was taken off the pin. if somebody had changed the gauges, or put reverse-glo gauges into your car that may be a reason. it throws off the calibration. and like previously stated, the best solution is to buy a new gauge cluster. I've seen a few on ebay for about 20 dollars. junkyard works too

meters works . but my speedometer doesn't work. my cruise control works. i need help
