hey guys i'm running a p28 with s300, and the ECU doesn't read knock.. my compression is a little high 11:8-12:2 and i'm tuned on 91 octane..
the question is, if I buy a SAFC can I hard wire the knock output to my knock sensor on the back of my block? or will that not work? I would like to know before i buy my friend's SAFC..

safc does nothing for timing adjustments plus the stock knock sensor is ignored by the ecu over a certain rpm (5000rpm maybe?).
save your money and spend it on dyno tuning.....your tuner should be able tune it safe enough that it will not ping/knock with only sacrificing little power.

i didn't want the safc to do any timing adjustments.. but do u know if it can read knock if i wire it directly to my knock sensor?
yes i agree on spending money on dyno tuning and all but my stock tach doesn't work and i'd rather spend money on a safc to monitor other things besides just the knock

i'm pretty sure it does. My buddy uses one in his 240 and it reads knock. I know the VAFC doesnt read knock though.

mmk cool. do u know if u can just crimp the knock output to the sensor?

that'd be cool. let me know if u can or not.. thanks bud!

Even if it could read knock, the stock sensor won't tell you anything useful for tuning. If it were a valuable tool, Hondata certainly would have included it in the software.
