Hesitant....almost backfiring going on.....please help !!!
Hi, this is my first post here at the Honda Accord forums and I hope someone can give me some tips or ideas as to what may be wrong. Here's what I have...
2000 Honda Accord 2.3 EX
Standard Transmission
4 Door
It's been 'acting up' over the past little while and I'm trying to pinpoint the problem. Since the engine light was on, I scanned it with my scantool (Auterra) and came up with a couple codes. P0170 and P0171. Either one of those or another came up originally that was described as the car was running too lean.
What happens is this..... In 1st gear, as I start off, the car can almost completely die if I keep on the accelerator. In order to get rolling, I have to "feather" the pedal.....slightly letting off and giving it just a very small amount of gas to get up to speed to switch to 2nd gear. It doesn't do this all the time, but probably the majority of the time. I've been told that if the problem was the fuel pump, at any time while driving, if I "floor it", it will just completely die.....but it doesn't do that. In top gear, to pass...it won't pass very strong, but it doesn't completely die when we press on the gas to pull out and pass at highway speed.
To try and solve the problem, over the past month or so I've done some research and have replaced a few things. After discovering that there isn't a fuel filter, I replaced the fuel screen in the tank. Shortly after that I replaced the MAP sensor. I also just recently replaced the front O2 sensor. None of this helped so far.
If there's anybody out there with some ideas as to what may be wrong, or something else I could check, please let me know.....it would be greatly appreciated !!!
