Electrical Problem 99 Accord
i have a 99 accord and i have a problem with the battery not staying charged. It is a new battery. If i leave the battery connected after about 4 hours of sitting the battery is dead. But if i disconnect the battery after every time i drive the car it is fine.
Anybody have a problem like this or any suggestions
Thank you

depends, theres 2 types of shorts,
1. short to ground, means the voltage isnt reaching the load of the circuit, and is going right to a ground spot. most of the time it blows a fuse.
2. short to power. this is usually defined as wires crossing in such a mannor as to turn something else on without outside input. ie... step on your brakes, and your reverse lights come on...
but what your problem sounds like is called parasitic draw. 9 times outa 10 its something stupid like the glove box not getting shut all the way and the little light stays on until the battery drains out. look at and in your car at the dead of night to see if there are any dumb little lights still on when they shouldnt be.
the next thing to look at (assuming your have subs/amps) is the stereo system. if an amp doesnt turn off, it will make short work of an idle battery
hope this helps
