Default crx- this ever happen to you?

bought crx a month ago, haven't been able to drive much due to need to take trailor with me. my son's toyota truck broke and he needed to use my crx (zippy). he picks up zippy and i of course give him the "rules" of using my car, he agrees to all the rules and leaves with zippy only to call me a few hours later saying it won't run and died while driving down the street. well- i immediately think he is out racing my zippy and goofing off in front of his friends. my son gave me hell when i bought zippy, saying he would never drive something like that. i usually would drive my 4x4 cummins dodge, which he wants . my son is 6'3" and about 240 lbs. watching him get into zippy was real payback, anyway - the car quit and he couldn't get it going and drained the battery. all his hotrod buddies were convinced they could fix it and started saying all kinds of crap- "it's the ignition module, the fuel filter is plugged, etc" . i went to pick zippy up with the trailor and brought it home, being "old-school" i started with the basics and made sure i had fuel, fire ,etc. after about 30 minutes of testing and looking i found that the rotor was held in place with a screw and the screw had fallen out and the rotor was just sitting on the distributor and wasn't turning. i put it back after finding the screw on a magnet inside the distributor and give it a whirl.........fired right up and actually runs better than when i bought it. my son ate a bunch of crow and now prefers it with a little salt. needless to say , he came back and got zippy and is driving it now and isn't giving me any more problems about having such a little car. do those screws fall out often?

It happens to a lot of people.

You need to put loctite on that screw when you remove or replace it for any reason.

Yeah that design is terrible (the round hole on the rotor).
Most newer rotors have a flat spot so if the screw comes loose the flat spot holds it in place.

Bingo, use the Blue or Green, the red is a SOB trying to take anything back out, hence Loctite's name for the Red: "Permanent"

I used a small bolt that has the same thread as the oem screw with a lockwasher.

Has happened to me twice, the first time I reinstalled it used green loctite, the 2nd time used red. Hope that holds it, the Crx sees a lot of highway miles.

Hmm...I'll make sure to loctite that screw in place so this doesn't happen to me.
