USDM to JDM Exhaust Fitment Questions...Please Help!

USDM to JDM Exhaust Fitment Questions...Please Help!
If I buy a jdm header... spoon for example, and add a carsound cat, can I use my stock exhaust for a while? What length issues will I encounter? Should I buy cat and exhaust first, then header??? BTW I plan to purchase type one exhaust.
