Default SiR hubs... moreover...

Alright so from what I understand if I put SiR hubs on my 91 civic Si... I wont be able to adjust the toe out far enough due to longer inner tie rod ends... BUT if i take off the outer tie rod ends, Cut the inner tie rod ends in about 1-2cm and run a die on it to clean up the threads again it will work 100% fine?? i just want to get this all cleared up befor I buy some hubs because this seems to be a very vague and confusing topic... nobody seems to know EXACTILY what you have to do...

i have a question for you, are you getting the hubs for a front brake upgrade?

If so have you considered the EX knuckles? they're harder to find but dont require any mods.

and again heres a link (you probably wont find any more detailed write up's than this) look at the
section labeled: RUNNING JDM SiR KNUCLES ON N.AMERICAN 89-91 CIVIC/CRX

yea most of it is for the up-graded brakes... and if i could find ex knuckles i would totally go for em but if all you have to do it just cut the inner tie rod ends a little bit then ill just get the SiR hubs... both of them have the best geometry for the car (better then DA) but i just wana make sure thats ALL i have to do! i read this link over a couple of times but im just trying to make sure i can run my outer tie rod ends just as they are and just cut the inner for more adjustablility... that link says sumthing about making more threads but idk if i have to do that or not

the easiest thing would be to get sir tie rod ends, where did you get the spindles? usually they come from a front cut of a car that was shipped over do they not have the tie rod ends at the place you got the spindles?

looks like cutting the inner tie rod ends 1 cm would do it... and that seems easy enough to me! so ill just get oem Honda inners, outers, ball joints, and wheels bearings just to do everything right the first time!! BUT another questions... would going to advance auto parts and getting Re-Man'd DA GSR Calipers be a good or bad idea?

they arent discontinued, edm or jdm ones will work. No one has any relatives in Europe that could take a drive to honda and ship them over? or better yet call a honda dealer in Australia or UK they speak english. explain the situation and Im sure they would ship the products. doesnt seem that hard. Just sell the spindles and get some da or ex ones seems much easier

alright so basically SiR hubs with usdm inner and outer tie rod ends (outers screwed onto inners as far as they can go)... the front wheels will still look kinda like this / \ ? so you have to cut some thread off the inners so you can thread on the outers a little to get l l ? im just tryng to get a feel for why you have to cut threads... thanks

I have SiR knuckles on my 89 Si hatch. no problems with using domestic outer & inner tie rod ends.
With the alignment, your steering wheel will be slightly off. check FAQ for the link to my web site.

I read all the info on the page you made and it says you have to cut the inner tie rods about 1 cm shorter... so you didnt do this?

well my friend just replaced his jdm ef8 sir outer tie rods..
said part numbers are
eft: 52560-SH3-N11 and Right: 52540-SH3-N11

cost him like 250AUD.. so 200USD
needed to come from japan too

we dont have a conclusion if any others match..
EE8 (euro b16 crx) i believe has a manual rack..
and DA9 (b18a teg) has the closest rack to the EF8, but dont know if the tie rods are the same

so yeah, good luck.. dont bother with honda australia either, most hate imports

I cut it my first time doing it but on my second time, I didn't and it's all good if you can put up with the fact that going straight will not have your steering wheel exactly straight but off by about 1 degree! No bigge, trust me.
Just remember to upgrade your MC to 1/16 bigger unit with the upgrade of integra calipers, which I'm assuming you'll be using.

so you ended up screwing your outers all the way onto your inners and it lined up fine besides for the wheel being a lil off?

yes! just the steering wheel is 1 degree off. To fix that, you have to cut one end of the outer tie rod end and screw that into the inner tie rod all the way in. The other side is fine.

Honestly... it seems like alot of work for something that can be grabbed off of a DA or ex sedan and work correctly.

We put EF9 spindals on our 89 CRX without any mods and was able to get it aligned first try. The tierods were maxed out threaded in, but havent run into any issues yet.

yes, the end of one inner tie rod end. Just a little part of it, I'd say if you cut the non threaded part, about 0.5"
