Question with AEM CAI
Hey guys, like ive mention before i am a complete newb to this world, now, i want to install a AEM Cold Air Intake and maybe that Bybass thing to make sure water doesnt affect it. I know that when i buy it that it will give me full instructions on how to install it, but i would like to know what Tools I will be needing. The only tools i have right now are some renches and a multihead screwdriver. I just really want to know the tools, but if anyone has any other information, please, please, please, give me. Thanks guys, in advance.
I believe you may need a pipe cutter to slice the pipe, which isn't too expensive. I would wait until you get the bypass valve, because they may have specific instructions.
Some new tools definitely won't hurt. A metric ratchet set from Sears will definitely come in handy when you install. You will need it.

If you dont install the bpv, all you will need is a srewdriver for the grommet clamps, and either a socket wrench or any other box-end, open-end whatever wrench to get the airbox and resonator out. I'm not sure if u will need to cut into the floor of your engine bay or not.
You will need a metric ratchet set for the CAI. If you install the bypass valve you have to cut the intake piping, so you will need a hacksaw or a pipe cutter. you don't have to cut your engine bay at all. You might need to take your front bumper off to remove your resonator (I didn't have to, but it would have been easier if I did!)
I didn't know you had to cut the intake to install the BBV, I never installed mine, I don't plan on driving thru any lakes so I won't need it. I'll sell it if anyone is interested.... 2.5 inch I/D.
