Default OEM shock spring seat dilemma

I got new oem shocks from Honda, and am installing the springs on the new units. There's a wierd situation with the rear assemblies though. My spring doesn't sit against the seat the way it is in the helms. Only a small portion of the bottom of the spring actually sits against the horizontal part of the seat. And the very edge of the coil does not go far down enough to sit against the diagonal part of the seat (it sits against the horizontal part)This is how it is with the original shocks too. It's the spring seat on the shock that's off, because when I put the rear spring on a front shock, it sits correctly.

My car is an SH. If any of you have your shocks/springs (Base or SH) laying around, could you please check and see what the situation is with your rear shocks. Despite the free length being the same with the rear springs, the Base and SH use different springs and shocks in the back too (different part numbers). My rear springs have this white and red paint on them from the factory.

Thanks a lot for posting this. What seems to be the problem with mine is that the coil is wound too tightly at the bottom, so it's not able to clear the portion of the perch in the middle that sticks up and out, and is not able to sit all the way down. I'm not really sure why it is like this.

I'm pretty sure I figured out the problem. I had the front springs on the rear shocks and that's why it didn't fit. I put the other two springs on the rear shocks and fit well. I guess I wrongly assumed that the longer springs were to be used on the rear shocks. I was conditioned this way though since the Prokit rears are significantly longer than the front springs.
