I have stock sunroof in my car. one day i went to open it and it popped up alittle and then didnt move, but i can hear the motor still working while pressing the switch. I can see in the parts diagram for it that theres pretty much a motor and a cable assembly. So is the motor gears strip and i need a new motor or are the cables somehow stripped off? anyone ever have this problem? Thanks in advance for any input.

 

i had this problem once in my girls LS, first press the button to attempt to open, it will stop that is fine, then look and see which side is higher (left or right side of the car), get your self a flat head screw driver, and gently pry the lower side up, while someone else presses the button to open, it should then open up, then on the side that you pryed open look for a small metal cable with a hook on the end, get your self some small needle nose plyers and reattach the hook end to the black clip. if you are not sure what i am talking about look at the other side. it should work. hope this solves your problem.

Which chassis do you have? Have you tried the manual crank?
