Default EG cluster in a EF?

I have a real nice EG (1994) EX cluster and want to know if it will fit (nicely) into a 1991 civic Si? Is there a write up somewhere? I have searched and came up with nothing. As much info as possible please. Thanks in advance!!

People have done GSR clusters, my friend was telling me it takes some creative wiring, some cutting, molding, etc...
with time, effort, patience, and money.. ANYTHING can be done.

not sure the EG cluster would be worth the hassle. the EF hood "leans" towards the driver, while the EG's is the oppposite.

my GSR cluster in my sedan with the EG speedo on my cable trans.

i got the 99-00 si cluster in my sedan and it fits pretty nicely...

also on the EG, its shaped like a rectangle whereas on the EF,EK,DC is more rounded...

so even if you were to find a wiring diagram, i'm pretty sure it wouldn't fit right because you would have a gap at the top and its fat on the bottom...

but hey, try it and lets see the results

Thanks for all the info. I didn't think to check the lean on the cluster. Will the 96+ civic non Si with tach clusters work like the Si cluster?

Yes, wiring and fit are the exact same. It looks like it may be time very soon to post my write up on the 96-00 Cluster swap into the 88-89 ad 90-91 EFs...here's a pic of the Si one in my '89 DX

I really need to take current pics that show it finished and my NEW cluster that has a clean speedo as opposed to this one I got screwed with on Ebay.

Na, i do too....here's the EDM oem cluster

If i were to do an EK cluster, i would use the CTR model like the one i run in my 96 Civic hatch

yes fully functional... just make sure u wire up an electronic VSS for the speedo because the cable VSS found in EF's won't work with the newer EK/DC clusters...

As long as I can make it look like it came from the factory that way, I might do it!

You should post it. Ever since i saw this thread im contemplating going to the junk yard and pulling a 99-00 Si cluster, that looks really good. Probably way better lighting than my stock cluster too.

I imagine the swaps pretty straight forward as long as you have the pinouts and the electronic speedo cable.

I know it impossible to fit a bigger cluster in the 88-89 cars cuz of there small bezel what would u do in that case swap out dashes or can the newer round cluster bezel fit.

Mines an '89 so yes it's easy to do, just swap out the cluster hood to a 90-91. You'll need to swap out the hazard and dimmer switch as well.

3 options:

DC2 Integra
EK Civic
EF EDM SiR

The problem is to do the cooler looking DC2 or EK ones, you have to do a lot of wire swapping, and the mounting doesn't use 4 holes, it uses 1 or 2.

I went with the EF EDM SiR because it looks stock, is in US units (MPH), fits perfect, goes to 9000 rpm and 150 mph, and takes very little work

There is no such thing as a EDM Sir, it's called a VT model and can be found in both KM and Mph versions. It basically needs to have the gauges themselves taken out of the edm cluster and dropped into the usdm housing, and boom done the mods when used for 1990 and 1991 models

looks sweet!(99-00 Si cluster)...got the GSR cluster in my Gray CRX which is still in storage/garaged which I can't wait to bring out! but only reason I might want a EG cluster is because I'm soon going to go SOHC in my other REX (D16z6)this coming week or so-so that'll be nice

Yeah the CTR would be sweet as well but a bit $$$ that's all otherwise just about the same as the SI cluster
