Looking for a D.I.Y. for CAI
not to be rude or anything. but are you really serious about a diy for a cai?? its pretty simple.
remove stock cai system. replace with aftermarket cai. remember to plug in the sensors and hoses.

i would imagine that it is NOT that simple for someone who probably has no prior experience with these new cars. and this isnt just some sticker application, a mod like this should be done correctly.

yeah i thouged it wasnt that big of a deal but then i started reading up on some other peoples progress and i heard you have to take off your bumper, take the driverside wheel off and cut a part of the wheelwell off or something and i just dont feel comfident enough to go ripping apart my air filtration syspem without a good guide i can follow, or else ill be stuck and not know what im doing. and especially how our engine's are so compact, it seems ill probibly have to take the battery and trey out too huh?

Unless you drive through free standing water and submerge the air filter you should have nothing to worry about. It is possible to cause the same damage with even the stock induction system.

its not a 6hr job...i'd say it took 45min for me to do it on my car by myself skimming the instructions.
its not an easy job though, especially if you dont know what your doing. i have a friend that doesnt know much about cars that tried to do it and it took him and another guy 4-5hrs.

there are also people on this website that can build an engine piece by piece. I am not one of them.
i'm sure i'm not the only person in this situation, but to me more than 60 mins. = 6 hours = rather have someone do it who
a. is more knowledgeable (in the business for 14 years)
b. insures his work
c. has a reputation to uphold to his customers who span the entire eastern seaboard.

At the same time, it would help if you get in there and do it yourself. The first mod I ever did to my civic was install a turbo......with no directions. Took me awhile, but I got it done.

very very true. But i can't afford to f somthin up on a brand new whip, with my budget, with my student loans. If i didn't work 7 days a week i'd def. invite one of you local guys over and learn step-by-step...

I found a DIY for an R18 but not a K20 so here goes

see the second longer hose from the top that you have to replace that plugs into the intake? Yeah... well I... uh... pulled... and pulled... and it broke the plastic thing that the end attaches to on the left. I already looked inside and it seems to have a piston wth a spring or something, but i turned the car on and no check engine light went on or anything and the car runs smooth. Any suggestions on what i should do? leave it? or purchace the broken part from honda and replace it?

your right man. brand new 2008.... not worth leaving anything unfinished. I looked around and this peice looks practially easy to replace, just 1 large nut around the bottom and theres a clip that holds a hose to the top... maybe its something more, ill call honda...
i was driving it to work today and i noticed something wrong. at a red light, normally, my rpm's would stay around 1,000 or 1,200. today i stopped at a redlight and noticed the rps were down to 600 or so and i watched it and the rpms were bouncing from 400-600 every few seconds and it seemed like it was about to stall itself, and it just didnt seem right. Ill get the plastic thing replaced and hopefully my rps will rest once again around 1,000... if not then
