I'll try to keep short:

i bought a 98 gsr. 3 days later starts burning a lot of oil. required rebuild. rebuilt short block w/ p73 pistons. came to find out short blocks stamp was tampered. read b18c5 w/o HM stamp underneath. friend thinks its a b16 according to deck height. bad ordeal w/ cheap mechanic lost a lot of misc bolts to short block. I am making payments on vehicle and need to get fixed.

I should just replace short block right?
should i go ls/vtec?

From where did you buy this short block?

 

It came with the 98 gsr i bought. i purchased private party. As-Is Buyer Beware in california.

 

Was the purchase from a shop or a private individual? If the engine was misrepresented, you may have a case.

 

it was purchased private party but this was a while back already. sep 2006. i dont have much documentation to prove the fact but i have plenty of witness to testify that it is the short block with the vehicle when purchased. like i said i only had the vehicle 3 days. been without since making payments so i dnt mess up the credit/
