1st Gen CRXs are getting expensive
There was a time.... when you could snap up a clean, rust free 1st Gen for the price of a Super Sized Meal here in California. Honda sold a ton of the coupes in the Golden State and they all seemed to survive into their teen years in the mild local climate. The streets were filled with snappy little Hondas and most of them had a "For Sale" sign begging for someone to take it away.
Better still, the local junkyards had dozens to choice from. Need a new fender? Shop through the aisles until you find one the right color.
But times have changed. The first sign was when the first junkyard you stumbled into did not have the specific year and model you were looking for. Then it got hard to find any 1st Gens at all. The last time I was in the junkyard, I had to scrounge a part from a 3rd Gen Sedan.
But the sign that the Apocolypse Is Upon Us is to be found online at Cars.Com and Autotrader.com. Prices for clean, rust-free 1st Gens is now poking about the $2000 price... if you can find one at all.
It is official, the great unwashed hordes have discovered our favorite little cars. And now the price of entry is going to get steeper.

Supply and Demand
I've noticed it with many car forums I'm on.
Luckily I picked up my 240sx for next to nothing back before anyone even looked twice at those cars.
Driving home recently I saw a blue 240 for sale. Bought it from the guy for almost $900 and when I got the title in the mail I had it sold in 1 day for $2500.
I should have asked for more.
