STUCK ON key lug nut........need advice
ohk, here is the deal, i have a 17" rim with four lugs, now the dumba$$ that owned the car before me took a key lug, and made his own special key out of a regular lug key, he grinded it down and made it semi-fit into the hole, now the inside of the lugnut is stripped beyond belief and i cant get the key to stay in enough to turn, so i dremmeled two slits into the lug to hopefully get a screwdriver into it to turn it, no go, i took vice grips as tight as i could possibly go and they didn't work, i've tried almost everything, i started just to drill out the stud so i can put a new one in, BUT, it takes like 30 minutes to move 1 cm and i have to resharpen the bits like every 5 mins. Is there any advice out there that could help me, i'm about to go out and try to pound a socket onto the lug so that it grips and i can turn, but it most likely won't work, then i might try hammering the lug until i can break the stud, but that probably wont work, the thing i dont want to do is injure my rim to much
, i need help......./ideas/suggestions!!! THX

I had no issues hammering a 19mm 12-point socket over my key lugs when I lost the key. Then again, I was using Rays lightweight (in other words, butter soft) lugs...
Maybe try

see we just tried that and the thing is we're working with limited tools and i couldn't pound a 17 mm on and I dont have an 18mm so were working on drillin out the wheel stud, were pretty close, we've just been working are way up bit sizes....but i'll get back on and update!! THX for the thought though
ohk......well we've been drilling , but it seems that when we get to a certain bigger size bit, it just stops moving and its really making me angry, we've tried hammerin an oversized bolt into the hole to crack the nut, we've tried just hammerin it to crack the nut but i'm scuffin the $hit outta my rims and now i'm gettin angry.......plus, i dont think there is a single store where i live that carries one of those emergency nut removers....where would i get one?

ohk....so i finally got the lug off, it took 2 days to get one lug off that was stuck on. we used an 18mm socket and dremmeled the outside of the lug at an angle so the socket would start then pounded it crazy with a hammer and got it to turn, then we moved onto the other side, which took only 10 minutes using the same method.....thx for all the help guys, i've learned a valuable lesson!!
no we just pounded it on after dremmelling the end of the lug a little smaller so the socket would start easier, then we took a regular hammer and pounded it on and it did the job, but then after all that work, i put my rim and new tire that i had just got on to my car and let the jack down and the tire was too big, so it rubbed so now i need to find new tires 2 at least, 4 if possible 205/40R17 or close to it ....Any body now where i can get some, from someone who would trade for other low pro tires?
