Default 97 DX, Starting problems

So, my 97 DX has been parked for roughly 3 months, I go outside to start it up the other day & the car refuses to start.. So, I keep the key turned & eventually (50 seconds or so) the engine turns over, but dies shortly after, no matter how much gas I give the car, so I continue trying, hoping that it was just simply a low battery, no dice. I eventually try to jump the car, again no dice. I try a little bit more, before resorting to having my battery tested, & I see black smoke comming from what appears to be the engines starter. None the less, the new battery didn't change a thing, any ideas? TIA

Trying to start the car for a straight minute could cause the starter to go out. Thought about draining the fuel and putting in fresh?

Alright, It's worth mentioning that a strong smell of what I believe to be fuel could be smelt while trying to crank the car.
