stick with 91. last time my dad borrowed my gsr and he filled it up with 89, boy was I pissed. I retarded the timing just in case though, but it shouldn't be TOO bad with 89.

ive had my last two tanks filled with 89, prior to using 91 all the time, but here in cali, you know it's expensive as hell for gas now, and so far i've had no problems with it, but want to know if it's going to be bad in the long run

lol. I also got mad at my dad for putting in 89. paying $4 extra per pump for 91 isn't that bad right?

This has been covered before. The bottom line is that it will not hurt a stock vehicle. The caveate is that 89 octane will result in lower fuel economy, which means that you don't actually save money. It is in your best interest to run 91 like the manual says.

F You! To the OP, stick with 91. Another affect of using a lower octane is detonation and pinging.

How is that good??

1 Gallon = 3.785 L

3.785 L @ $1.34 per L = $5.07 gal (obviously in Canadian dollars)

$5.06 CDN = $5.00 USD

Not good IMO

the 94 octane gas FTW, the price of 1.34 at this time of year in canadian dollars isnt that bad. its usually 1.20 a liter anyway. besides who cant spend the extra change for their cars gas, that gets them to and from the places they need to go everyday?, sry if yer broke and iaffended you with my few cents in difference ;o

remember that octane ratings at gas stations are the minimum ratings. on any given day when filling up with 89 you probably average to a 88 to 91 octane anyway.

what im curious about is how you come to the conclusion of more savings? the difference between 89 and 91 is usually 10 cents... for an 11.5 gallon tank thats a total savings of about $1.25 on a complete fill up.

3.99 are you outta yo mind? i wonder if this still sticks, but i usually suck it up and get olympian gas either on 19th or by serramonte. the other day i put in 10 dollars worth of gas and it equated to about 2.1 gallons of gas which is sad as ****.

wasn't an issue at all for me. But you're only saving $1 per fill up. Regardless of gas prices.
