Thoughts on a West Coast Expo......
Who here would go to a west cost ITR Expo?
DO NOT REPLY IF YOU DO NOT MEET THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:
Expo 7 was your first expo; or Expo 8 will be your first expo; or you have been to at LEAST 2 Expos. Any other replies I will request be deleted and at best you will simply be ignored.
Understand that we are not currently planning a WC Expo, but I'd love to go to the WC for one so I'm personally trying to see if there is any support.
When you reply, if you want to do a WC Expo, post that and your general location (State only, city not needed, this may help plan other events anyways).
By West Coast I mean any state that meets the Pacific Ocean.
Tran brought up a good point - please only reply if you are willing to pay $350 (likely less, but we'll go high for the purpose of this thread) for a DRIVER spot.

If it is anything North of Buttonwillow, I wouldnt. Fuel prices, much less diesel will be absurd this time next year. I would discuss your ideas with Jackson. He is pretty much one of the few OG WC ITR owner still posting and being involved in the ITR community (on a national scale). Looks like he is successful in his current West Coast Track Day as well.
What Track?
Cali/Arizona etc.
Or
Can we do Miller Motorsports Park in UTAH..... Let have Expo at a new track that has not been done by ITRCA.
One track that i'd like to go to is Putnam Park in lower Indiana....

That would be a tough call for me to leave my wife and 2 kids under 3 at home for a week. If I could get the OK, I probably wouldn't drive out there unless I was able to get a truck and trailer for the R, but even then the cost in gas alone would be ridiculous. I would probably fly out there to spectate if I couldn't get a truck and trailer.

I was all signed up and ready to go to AZ, so Id say I would do what I could to go. Circumstances at the time would be a factor though (vacation time, wedding day, gas prices, etc)

I'd take the itr back out on the track, granted that it didn't conflict with the Honda Challenge schedule for NorCal now that I have my provisional Comp License...3 more races to go.

there are different levels of attendance
paying for a driver's spot or just "attending" to watch?
edit: not directing @ cory specifically but for all those answering in the thread..."i'll be there" "i would go" answers don't help much

Probably attend driver/instructor.... it is already costing me vacation time and $1K ($700 in gas alone !!!) to instruct at Expo 8.
I would probably say definitely if it was at Laguna Seca. To me, it is not just the layout of the track but also the history that brings me to want to drive on the track (reason's why I love Watkins Glen and Limerock).
Also being on the West Coast, I could probably convince my wife to fly out and meet me for extended vacation.

Common out to the West coast! I have been waiting for this idea to come up for the longest time now

Depends how far west? I wont drive to california, but colorado maybe.
I would be more opted to fly out to california and rent a car then drive. I'm sure anybody with a trailer wouldn't mind the drive. Except for the crazy gas prices.

I know a lot of the guys who have responded already would be driving at any rate.
Thanks for the replies so far, the more we get the better idea it gives us. Not only for the feasibility of another WC expo, but of general locations of interested owners to let us try to focus on different tracks.

I would pay it, and I would attend almost any track in CA...not Fontana or California Speedway, but any other track. Laguna is cool, but it has the problem of a very, very strict sound requirement, so strict that if you have a CAI(AEM) you wont pass because it's too loud.

<---- would consider driving the event, depending on gas prices (I'd have to tow, but I'd rather drive to the event, drive the event and drive home as towing costs would KILL my budget) and financial situation this time next year. Time off for me wouldn't be a problem with enough notice.
Personally, I'd like to see CA hold the event as well.
If for whatever reason i could not drive the event, I would most certainly fly out/drive with someone and show.
<---- from CFL y0!

I would drive the event. One thing to think about, is if the west coasters actually support it, previous Expo drivers (from any location) have an early registration or something. Would be a shame to have one out west only for it to be filled up with west coasters (assuming it would be open to all cars as in the past).
