d15b non vtec to d15bvtec
I have a blown head gasket on my 88 ef. Thecar has a nice body but the interior is a little ruff and it is the std no frills car. I invested cash in some neuspeed springs, kyb struts and camber kits. I wanted to upgrade the motor and was wondering what you all thought of the vtec upgrade. I will also be installing a hydro 5 speed tranny and dumping the 4 speed.
i believe for the tranny swap you're gonna need new hubs and/or axles + tranny mount.
not exactly sure what, but i know there is somethign different about the 4spd.

You can keep the 4-spd/HF hubs as long as you use the original axles with the 5-spd.
If it were me, i'd just buy a d15b longblock and an Si tranny and call it a day.....converting to a hydro tranny (at least another $300-400 in addition to the tranny) is quite an expense for such a simple setup.
