Default 2003 Civic Si shift ****?

My son recently bought a 2003 Si, the stock shift **** twists on the shifter. Is this normal for this vehicle or has it become loose or not fully tightened? The car shifts and runs great, never owned a car with a dash mounted style gear shifter, pretty cool.

to answer your question, no it is not normal. push down while holding onto the chrome trim ring, then see if you get another turn on the ****.

Thanks to all, 3 full turns loose, in all about a 45 sec. job.

wow, for the time it took you to signup and create an account with h-t and then make this topic, you could have figured out how to tighten the **** (left loosey, righty tighty) and have a beer to celebrate a job well done.

BTW, Welcome to H-T!
