Default BDL throttle body, which one would work best for this setup?

Ok, right now i am looking into throttle bodies and am unsure which one would best suit my needs. I am looking at the BDL throttle bodies because the skunk2 have a reputation of crapping out and getting stuck so i want to avoid that.

My setup is as follows

-4-2-1 header atm (love fab custom header to be purchased at the end of summer)
-Megan highflow cat
-Apexi ws2 exhaust
-rebuilt head with an aggresive p&p
-AEM CAI
-Skunk2 pro series intake manifold
-75 wet shot of nitrous
-hondata s200

I was thinking 66mm (bdl doesn't have 68mm) would be better for the n/a side of driving but feel the 70mm would optimize the nitrous. What do you guys think? help me out please, i want to get this purchase out of the way this week.

70 mm would be a bit to big for NA setup, even with n2o, because you will most likely lose velocity with such a large TB.

i would reccomend either 66-68 mm throttle body, look into the omni power TB's they look stock but are not.. and they are a pretty nice piece.. i recently just put a 70mm omni TB on my setup

yah that is what i kind of thought. I really see the 70mm stealing alot of power from my engine while not spraying. Those omni power ones look pretty nice. Still, if i am buying one i still would like to make it look aftermarket just for the bling factor as well.

I am going to go hunt down some dyno graphs with the different throttle bodies now. Ohhh and what size is the stock throttle body? 62mm?

ah, well either way either TB should do you well, i just really like the build quality of the omni, the throttle and spring is like oem which is pretty reliable.. ive never played with a BDL or Skunk2

yah, that is a big concern. I remember seeing a recent thread about the sk2 not opening and causing engine failure. Something like that while spraying could be catistrophic

nah, you would be fine if the TB is stuck closed, and the n2o sprays, you`ll just be wasting the n2o, but the motor will rev due to the extra oxygen content in the stream, that will go into the idle holes.

but the n2o shoulnt be sprayed like that anyways, it should be wired so that it only opens at WOT

oh yah, completely forgot about that. The nitrous will be run on a full throttle switch on the gas peddle. I didn't really think that one through lol.

Hopefully some people with some BDL feedback can chime in. Otherwise i will probably be going with the omni power TB.

I thought the omni power is only for the b series? How can I get one ? So If they dont have 68 I can go wit the 66. Will the omni power fit the stock intake manifold?

Try the Proffesional Products tb's they are pretty nice, not too blingy though. Deff don't go for the Skunk.

Type R throttle bodies fits as well as GSR and B16 if i remember right. I have a 69mm GSR TB on my H22 with a skunk manifold.

Just a few more options if you cant find what you want.

you sure its a GSR tb? they are deffinately different than H-series unless a hole has been slotted. ITR/B16/S2K all share the same pattern.

i run a 70 mm bdl on my n/a setup. full intake and exhaust on my h22a and it feels fine. no where in my powerband does it feel like the motor gases out. ive ran it since the motor was put in, even on just a cai n exhaust. no dyno yet but car puts down enough power to put my DC in the 12's. i wouldn't jump so quick to not run a 70 mm. if all your gonna do is run bolt ons then yes a smaller tb is the correct choice but if your gonna build it then i would run a larger tb to compliment your mods. my only complaint is that the bdl tb is touchy and is either none or all throttle.

edit - i also have the same mods as you minus the p&p, and i just added a 75 shot of nitrous on it. tuned on crome

yes you dohcteggie. I need to see some proof of power gains without bogging out on a 70mm throttle body.

I dont have a WHP dyno but my engine made about 285hp and 210 tq on the engine dyno. I have yet to drop the engine in but it ran awesome on the dyno.

My setup is nothing special 87.25 x 90.7, Mahle's, Eagle's, Pro2's, Flat valves, Skunk manifold, Hytech 4th gen header, 74-69mm TB.
