yeah I found one kind of CD that will play in my car, only I have to wait almost 15 minutes for it to find any of the tracks, then if I want to ski[ ahead a track I have to wait another 15 minutes!!!
hopefully the newer ones don't do this, cus I really don't want to buy an aftermarket stereo.

I know my friends 92 civic with factory CD player plays my CDs, and my girlfriends Solara plays my burnt CDs...my ex's grandfathers 95 silverados factory CD player played my burnt CDs.... and so does my moms lexus RX300 and her boyfriends Hyundia!!!!!
in fact every CD player I tried my CDs in play just fine except for my stupid POS!!!!!!!!
I'm just getting kinda a good deal on this stereo out of a 2000 civic ex, but he never tried playing burnt CDs on it so I want to find out before I buy it.

When I had the stock head unit in my '99 si it played them no problem. But don't get that deck because it sucks *****.
I don't think it is a matter of the cd player, but the cd's you are using. If you use crappy cd's often the cd player won't read them, but if you get a name brand then it should work.

99-00 civic cd player and 96-98 cd player have different plugs. Although, i never have problems out of my 99 si cd player. It plays everything almost.

I have a pioneer P6400 and it plays CD-RW. and my friend has one that is very old P27 and it also plays the Cd-RW you just need to finalize the CD's before you try to play them not just close the section.
keep this in mind... when you are burning the cd's, the software you are using to make these cd's must turn .mp3 files to .wav files. unless you have an after-market cd player that will specifically play mp3's, most cd players play .wav files which is a format the cd player reads data. in lamens terms, make sure you are converting those .mp3 songs to .wav when burning. call me a computer nerd if you want, but i know what i'm talken about...

my friend with a 96 civic [seperate head unit and CD player]cant play my burned CDs well. it has pops and distorts at a low volume. however, they play fine in my 99 Si deck.
i thought cd players read *.cda files..

before my stock unit BROKE, it played um fine. however.... it did break and i bet you can get a cheap SONY one for like 200.00 and it doesn't need an access code when you take the battery out, or things like that-- that are annoying. Plus they have ZERO output.. you have to turn it up all the way to hear it on the freeways. i wouldn't buy a honda cd player.
