for my speedo to be accurate what size tires will i need with the gsr tranny in my 92 vx. stock 13" wheels. the speed is determined by the tranny or the wheels?? what size tires will i need. i kinda want to get some 14" hx wheels w/ falkens.

im pretty sure the speedo determines hte speed by the combination of hte tranny and tyre diameter.

with out changing the internals of the tranny, it is hte tyre diameter that determines speedo accuracy...

using the tyre calculator, if stock = 185/70R13 then you need 185/65R14's

from factory its 165/70r13. and i hadnt noticed but i actually have 155 on there(came on car) so theyre smaller. im wondering then, if i get the 14" hx wheels do i need to get the 165/r14? or because im using the gsr tranny will it be something diff. id like to get the falkens and the hx wheels. what do i do?

 

on a performance honda 185's should be a minimum.

if the originals are 165/70R13's tehn to keep spedo accuracy teh tire calc suggests 185/55R14's

i dont think the tranny has anything to do with speedo accuracy, ie they are interchangable without effect.

but no-one has agreed or disagreed with me on this!!!!!

no!

for example: in a 185/65R13 tyre

the 185 is the width,

the 65 is the profile (a percentage of the width)

R stands for 'radial'

and 13 is the wheel diameter to which the tyre is fitted.

195/60R-14 86H B is the smallest falken azenis. and at 63mph itll say im going 60. and what is the width of this tire? my stockies are 5".
