i would say get everything new if you have the cash. and get an air cooled torch. for things that are only 3/16" thick you probably wont need watercooled stuff.
At my welding school I use a Dynasty 200DX every day, we have 8 of them, all new this year, and they're amazing. I do stainless, mild steel, aluminum, all with air-cooled torch. Either way you will be happy as long as the used one is in good shape.

Did a lot of searching on the net. Found a company local Ready Arc Welding Co. Asked about a syncrowave and told me he could get it and right before I hung up I asked about a Dynasty series. He said they have tons of them in the fleet, and he would pull one and send it right up. Never hurts to ask. Ready arc has locations all over the world!
I have the dynasty 200dx and I bought it used from a guy that had BARELY used it! 18 strikes.
- Check to make sure the hi-frequency start works well on aluminum. WELD ALUM before you buy it to make sure it doesn't have this problem.
I have another friend with the same welder who has the same issue...so beware.
I like the new elite helmet...its much better than the old one (Ive owned both) by far the best helmet I've ever put on (way better than speedglass!)
good luck!
