ok i hooked it up today.

its a gm solenoid and i have the hondata set with a normally open solenoid

at 0% it boost the wg spring 9psi

at 1 % it just boosted infinite hitting the boost cut at 16 psi EVERY DAMN TIME

at the stock 15% setting i turned the cut to 20 psi yah it hit it..

and one got a good way to test if its working right .. or had this same problem..

i know its kinda working cause it runs stock boost @ 0%

i have a 4 psi spring i was wondering if that would help if i put it in any thoughts

 

Make sure you have the solenoid plumed properly per the help file instructions.

 

i have a 7 psi spring on my wg, and with 15% duty it will hit almost 11 psi, since i´m on a stock map sensor i backed that off a little bit since my boost cut is set at 10.5, but yeah it works fine

 

i put in the 4 psi spring today gonna see if it works right when my buddy brings his lap top over

 

i had to set my percentage at like 55% Make sure you have it set to normally closed

i thought the GM solenoid was normally open?

and that u used it on normally closed only if u had an internal gate...


am i wrong ?

 

ok i got it to work..

had to put it on closed type... , but the 4psi spring sucks.. it take forever to build boost.. is there any way to raise the spool like gain on other ebc's? it take til 6800 rpm to hit 13 psi hit 4psi at 4000 but climbs so slowly till then..

with my 9 psi wg spring it hits 9psi by 4500 rpm so i know it can spool faster

anyone got a idea how to make it work better..

 

I have a 3 psi spring in my gate, and it works perfectly with Hondata (K-Pro, but same deal), with the GM solenoid. I can run anywhere from 3-20 psi on the GT30R..

Wow! That is a lot of boost control for the GT30R. I have the same setup and I have problems running less then 10psi with a full-race ramhorn and tial 44mm. I control boost with s300+GM solenoid but I'd love to run less boost in lower gears for the street. I figured the wastegate just couldn't handle anything less with the GT3076R.

What kind of manifold and wastegate size are you using? Is 20psi the most you get out of that spring with the GM solenoid at max duty cycle?

Full-Race manifold, Tial 44 gate, recirculated dump tube (key to maintaining lower pressures). With the open dump, I had problems maintaining less than 7 or 8 psi..

At max duty cycle, I can get about 22psi..

 

Intresting info about the dump tube. Maybe I just don't under the physics here...

I would think a less restrictive open dump tube would be able to bypass more exhaust from the turbin then a dumptube recirculated back into the full 3" exhaust would. Wouldn't a recirculated setup cause more backpressure on the wategate?

I know i'm just not thinking about this right. Could someone explain.

 

I ran across the same problem maintaining low pressure levels and I opted to sending my Ram Horn back to FR for a custom 60mm WG and problems fixed. The mani's are so efficient that controling boost is hard, 35R here.

no isues here. 34 solid up top. cant wait to use the boost by gear and rpm now. he hee.

 

boost has always been solid for me up top to. single digit boost just isn't happening for me.

This could be true but with a 44mm gate I could not control boost with my 35r. I had a 4 pound spring in the gate and i was seeing 17lbs of boost. Got the 60mm on it and it controled boost just fine there after.

 

The GM solenoid sucks. Hondata has a new one available or you can run the Pro-Logger Boost Solenoid which are both "normally closed" and work MUCH better than the GM's in my opinion.

 

tdautoworkes has the best deal on solenoids, its the same one aem uses and its nearly half the price
