Valve adjustments done and rough idle...stalls
My setup is as follows
B18b1 non-vtec head with stroker kit
81.5 bore and high compression around 11:1
crower cams..i think stage 2 or 1
i got the car tuned recently and dynoed and it ran great. The only thing i really noticed was that it was a lot louder...as in i could hear that the adjustment for the valves were off because it was extremely loud.
so just today i decided to do some valve adjustments to it to make sure it wouldnt do any damage in the future...now when i was making the adjustments i saw that it was completely off. i could put in the .009mm feeler in there and had a ton of play. So i decided to make the necessary adjusments
.09mm on intake side = .004"
.18mm on exhaust side = .007"
(according to the team-integra valve lash adjusment)
I made adjusments about 36 hours after it last ran.

Now that i did that, i started it up and it idle like crap. I literally had to give it gas to keep it running. i even tried letting it warm up then restarting it...still nothing. i tried putting it in gear and trying to move down the street and it was struggling. now at higher RPM's it feels like it runs fine..but again that only if i put my foot on the gas slightly... anything i can do to keep idle good??? what do you think is wrong??? do i need to get it retuned??

It sounds like you have some valves adjusted too tightly. This causes the valves to leak and results in poor low RPM performance.
yeah i did. i made sure they didnt go down any further. do you think because the tune was made with the adjusment off that it is now idling really bad??
alright so i started it up and it still idles rough...i messed with the idle screw and the fpr and it seemed to be running better...so once i let it warm up i put the idle screw back in the same position as well as the fpr and it ran alittle better...but when i tapped the gas the rpms would dip extremely low, just right before it would stall out but then regain its original idle rpms. could it be that its out of adjustment? or the tune is off? im going to work on it tomorrow to make some more adjustments to it and see if it makes a difference. any inputs or ideas? suggestions?
If you have a compression tester, run a quick test. The valve adjustment should not affect the tune.
Since you adjusted the idle screw, you should set the base idle to 450+-50 RPM with timing properly adjusted, the IACV unplugged, and all accessories and lights turned off.

try .005 and .008. i did a valve adjustment on my teg few months ago using .004 and .007. it idled horribly in the beginning but after it warmed up, everything went back to normal.
if i were you, i would redo everyone, you might have accidently used the exhaust side on the intake side vice versa and that would screw things up. double check your work after your done by not letting the next lower gauge go in.

alright well i rechecked everything and redid the clearance and it runs like a champ now!!! but i have one minor problem...after warm up and even during start up, when it idles, the rpms randomly like to dip down to where it almost stalls. keep in mind im not even hitting the brakes or gas. never had it stall on me yet, but i feel that it will. any reason for that dip? any remedy? thanks again guys
hey i recently did this to my stock ls as well and it does the same thing. its runs great but when it warms up and i let it ilde it idles very low. i messed witht he scren and still nothing.
