Cold Start Question
I searched and could not find the right answer.
How important it is to start your car in the cold morning and have it warm up like 10 min. or so before driving it?
Can you just drive it like that (cold) I have seen many people just get in their car start the car and leave. Myself I like to warm the car first before I drive.
I'm talking about normal cold morning here not down below zero or snowing.
Thanks

I live in northern IL when ever ther is frost on the windows i let it warm up for like 5 or 8 minutes cause im kinda in a rush in the morning to get to school, but if thers snow on the ground or its below 25 I let it warm up till the heat gets hot which is like 10 mins or more the only diffrence i notice is that the car isint as noisy when i drive when i let it warm up
i dont know if its necessary but i like to think that it does ... it gives me the peace of mind knowing that the oil and all the other fluids are ready for the daily commute lol ...

I wait about 5 minutes or so. When the engine is still cold, you can drive it, just do not drive it hard. Gunning it when it is cold will put excessive wear on all your parts. Your oil will not be at operating temperature, both engine & tranny. Since yours & my transmissions are known for their excessive failure rate, I'd take good care of it. I just keep it below 2500RPMs when its cold.
Nothing to worry about, just treat it like you'd want it to treat you.
