Default Apex N1 cat back with no cat...

is anyone running a 99-00 Si with a DC JDM 4-1 header with the N1 cat-back system with no cat or a test pipe? what does it sound like? is it real raspy and loud?

Yup. Loud and raspy. And thats before vtec hits. Got the DC JDM, N1 cat-back and a 2.5" test pipe.

But its all in the name of performance right...

USDM ITR header, 2.25" resonated test pipe, Apexi NI catback w/ no cat....
w/ the silencer, it is quiet up to around 4K rpm....then moderate until VTEC....
w/o silencer, it is quiet until around 3K rpm, then moderate until VTEC....

the bottom and top end sounds the same to me w/ or w/o the cat....the only difference seems to be midrange. It sounds better w/o the cat, more of a constant rumble, not a half *** rumble/pitch (kind of can't decide which noise to make)....it is easy enough to shift early around cops....go for it!!!

I have that combo on my Si, but I have a B18C1 bottom end which changes sound slightly. My car sounds like a swarm of angry bumblebees when I'm on it, but its pretty deep as well. When cruising around its not that bad, but when on the throttle its a bit loud.

yes its loud as ****, but you can also get a shop to make you a testpipe with a resonated section so it will add a much deeper tone instead of a straight pipe section.
