yeah, its called the mini me swap, you basicly do it the same way you do an ls-vtec conversion as far as i know, you would have to find a vtec head from either a d16z6 or a d16y8, being its a d series block it would have to be a d series head also, but i would type in the search box "mini me swap" and see what comes up, im pretty sure you have to tap the block for an oil line for the vtec to work also, but i would just do some research on it, and have some fun

In my opinion, don't bother. VTEC is overrated, and there is nothing wrong with an a6 head.

you cant add vtec to a non vtec head, but you can swap as someone said above a z6 or y8 head onto your a6 block.

you dont have to tap the block for an oil line like ls vtec, you just need to pull a pin out of the head that restricts the oil flow for the non vtec heads, but needs to be removed for the z6 or y8 heads vtec solenoid to work.

these will help:

edit: I would also agree with what the guy above me said. if your a6 head is fine its really not worth it cause you dont see much of an appreciable increase in hp/tq at all. if your going to spend a few hundred dollars you'd be better off dropping a b18a1 in there

soo are you saying its a waste to just buy the Y8 head, instead buy a b18? wouldnt that be more expensive tho?

It depends what you want out of the car. Like I said, there is nothing wrong with the d16a6.

sure it'll be more expensive but its about what you want to do. Aside from building your d series and turbocharging it you cant get that much out of them in stock form with stock cams. Its not a bad upgrade really but for the money i wouldnt spend the money i spent to do mine again. which is why now im in the process of getting a few remaining parts to drop a b18b in mine.

get a cam for the a6 plus a p&p job and you'll have a pretty nice little increase in power.

the LS swap isn't really worth it imo unless you plan to build it. you can get LS power out of your D series for about that much money and not even have to take the motor out of the car.

I disagree I think the head is ugly, so thats why I switched to the Y7. VTEC IS OVER RATED!
