EM1, EP3, DC5, TSX? Ughhh. Autocross/track whores come here!
Since I'm a new member or whatever and can't IM ep3civic2nr, I'll make a topic?
Search crashes the internet at my school, so that's outta the question.
Heres the deal. I'm probably getting rid of my B5 A4 (2000 Audi A4), for a Honda of some sort. I'm AWD-T right now, so I know thats already going to be a big difference. But hopefully the shorter wheelbase and light weight will make up for the lack of a transfer case and a rear diff.
I'm looking at three different K-Series powered Hondas right now, and an EM1. I looooove the looks of the EM1, but I want at least half a car to go with it.. I'm coming from German luxury, my standards are gonna kill me lol.
I'm looking at an Acura TSX, 02-05 RSX-S, and 02-05 EP3.
I noticed out of all those cars, the EM1 and RSX-S have the biggest aftermarket. But it is impossible to find an un-raped EM1 within 1000 miles of me. =[
I don't live in a high theft area, and never park where I can't see my car, so I'm not worried about that. Plus, I have full coverage with super low deductibles, so again, I'm set in that reguard.
I like the roominess of the TSX, and four doors is FTW as far as I'm concerned. The EP3 I test drove before my B5 (ughh, I shoulda bought it) I loved, plenty of room for my paintball stuff and etc.. But it felt.. BIG. I've only ridden in EM1's and I love them to death, and I also love my friends 06 RSX-S. The RSX doesn't really have enough room for my stuff though, which is a huge problem.
I pretty much love the EP3, TSX, and DC5.. but I can't pull the trigger on either one. Its gonna come down to how they handle and perform on twisty backroads, autocross, and HPDE's. Honda parts are already worlds cheaper than VAG parts, so I'm not really worried about anything in that regaurd.
Basically, what can I make the quickest around a track and on a drag strip for the cheapest, and still maintain a possible factory warranty on at least the motor/trans?
Thanks!

umm, i think as a hatchback, the rsx-s might have the biggest storage area. I mean, I could fit a 12' longboard through the sunroof with the backseats down. I don't think you will be able to do that in any of the other cars.
The TSX will have the most room for your passengers though. I don't really like driving around more than one person in my rsx. I think I may of only had 4 people in my car about a total of 5 times.

What exactly are your intentions with the car?? Is it gonna be a dedicated track car?? Weekend racer?? Of the 3 current cars the TSX has the best suspension. But its not exactly geared towards performance and its heavy with a 4 cyl engine. It will take money to make it a decent Auto-x'er. Luxury is out of the question, get over it . No Honda or even Acura can currently compete with the interior quality of German cars right now. The EM1 is hands down the best track car out of the other cars you mentioned. Its cheap ,light weight and has an awsome double wishbone suspension set up. And you can put just about any Honda engine in it that you want. But its older and cloth seats and plastic is the name of its interior game..

Nah, for real though, The Rsx has mad room in the back. Especially if you put the back seats down. I fit a bumper and a hood in mine once. With room to spare.
I think the Rsx would be the car you would enjoy the most. Faster than all of the cars you listed except the Tsx, but it will out handle a Tsx and cost less.

Yeah I can fit a set of wheels in the back without any problems, and still have other room for supplies and baggage.

What you want is nearly impossible given your guidelines.
Sounds like you might be happier in a E46 330 of some sort, or a E36 M3--as those will give you everything you want.
But if you must have a Honda, Probably the RSX-S will be the best bet for you. TSX will work too, but it is slightly underpowered and heavier. It does have the best suspension, though.

330i ZHP would be the best option.
I only reccomend that over the E36 m3 since the interior appointments are far superior in the E46 vs E36.

If money isn't an issue. Get a TL. You won't be disappointed.

I've driven an EM1, EP3, and I currently own a RSX-S, and I would never trade my RSX for either one of those. If you want the EP3, you might aswell get a base model RSX. I'm sure you don't want that. The EM1 is pretty fast but somehow it's just not as comfortable as the RSX. To me, the RSX is what you want. With just a drop, you notice the handling allready. The power is there obviously with K-series motor. You can't go wrong with a K man.
But that's just my opinions.
Good luck bro.

Or the RL, I got to drive one not to long ago, and I was very impressed. And it wasn't slow.

i actually hate the interior of the 3 series and the x5. i haven't sat in any of the M's or 5/7 series, so i can't comment on those. The ugly orange and their center console is just bland. I think the interior of the TL/RL/TSX looks a hell of a lot better compared to the BMW's i've sat in.

looks are subjective. I hate the way the BMW interior looks also but the fact is it has better leather quality ,more comfortable and supportive seats and lack of cheap plastic parts found in our Acuras..

Gotta pay to play.
I could totally rock an RL with a nice suspension and nice set of wheels. I liked it more than a 330i I got to flog. I felt faster on the buttock Dyno too.

But, a big and heavy FWD car will suck around a racetrack.

Edit: the springrates are 16k f/ 10k R so thats probably why it is understeering.

German cars suck. All my friends sold their for Hondas.
Luxury... Maybe... Quality NO!
I would rock an IS350 before an A4 or 3 series or anything german.
My friend has an 03 Audi and he already can't roll up or down multiple windows and the tranny gave out and had to get some work done at the stealership.
Sounds wonderful...

Oops, thought you typed TL. But, the RL is still a boat of an AWD car. And, it doesn't have the power/weight ratio of the AWD turbo buggies.
The HART TL is pretty nice, though. Still, not an optimal platform.
However, if luxury and handling is what you want, a BMW should be your choice. With any current Honda/Acura product, you're going to be making a sacrifice in one form or another.
