1992 accord new battery going dead over weekend
new battery, did not leave anything on, and it went dead after not driving it over the weekend.
I got a new battery cause the same thing happened with the 6 year old battery that was in it.
any ideas on where to start?
I think the charging system is ok, or at least it does charge anyway.
thanks!

Does the car turn over?
have you:
checked your grounds?
tested your alternator?
I don't think you have this problem, but if nothing works (lights, radio, etc.) check your main relay fuse.

a simple way to check if your alternator is working,, unplug the positive on your car while its running if the car keeps running your alt is probably good,, if the engine turns off then its bad,, if its bad then that could be why its draining the battery, or if your put in a stereo or amp recently then your remote turn on is connected wrong or something is grounding it!! like the other guy said check the main relay fuse which is under the hood near the firewall, check it out

The battery is part of the charging circuit. If you disconnect the battery, the alternator will think that it needs to go to full charging current. It will fry the alternator.

it will not fry the alt, i have driven a car with no battery, for a few hours before,, ever heard of pop the clutch? a car with no battery will not start on its own, inless it a manual transmission, you can do it with an automatic but need to get the car to a certain speen to do it,, but IT WILL NOT FRY your alt!! so while the car is running disconnect the battery and it will still run,, meaning the alt is good,, disconnect the battery while the car is running and it stalls,, alt is bad,,, (fact)
Here's a method to help you;
This has no bearing on arguements over battery cables
Hook up a test light between battery negative and the battery negative cable.
The light should glow dimly from the radio/ECU "backup" amp draw.
If it glows brightly you can start pulling fuses to track down what circuit has the battery draw.
Then some one might be able to help you further.
