Default 90' Accord slipping trans problem

When I accelerate from a stop it feels like its in second and then shifts to third. I can push on the gas and it takes a minute for the trans to go. I can hear the engine wanting to move the car but it's at a slow pace. Slipping. But I can manually shift to first and then back to d3 or d4 and it drives fine. What is the problem?

Have you checked for Flash codes by jumpering the service connector?

You can try unhooking the battery for a minute and then hook it back up and test drive to see if the TCU resets.

If it shifts correctly the first time after reset and then faults again with no codes, I'd be suspect of the TCU.
