serious vtec problem, only post if you know... or can help out a fellow h-t
pics up, going to fix these cel's and see if vtec will engage...

Just recently swapped a 00' b16a2 in my hatch and the previous owners of the engine told me the vtec wasn't working but I figured it would be a simple fix... also got a deal on the longblock so it was fine w/ me. (paid 350 for the complete)
So after the swap the problem persist, i try a different vtec solenoid and still no vtec, clean screen and the plunger works perfect. The engine also has the correct amount of oil and good oil pressure so either of these are the problem.
There are 3 cels, the intake air circulation valve or IACV and the vtec solenoid 22, also the intake air temp. sensor or IAT. I wired the vtec up to the ecu sockets a4 and d6, positive the wiring is correct. I also checked the rocker arms to see if the center arm moves independently of the others and they were all good..
Right now would be the time for me to fix this if theres something major wrong w/ the engine because i currently have the engine apart to replacing my cam seals tomorrow, also going to replace the head gasket while i have it torn apart.

Well first, find out why its throwing IAT sensor, make sure the IACV and IAT isnt reversed (hooked up backwards), that would fixem both quick if so, i had some like that when I bought my car.
The IAT not being hooked up will cause some problems as well
The vtec solenoid wire should be 1 wire, no ground or nothing, wired from A8 (If your OBD2A you shouldnt have nothing on A4 thats OBD1 vtec solenoid pinout. And you are running a OBD2 ECU right?) straight to the solenoid, no other connections should be wired to the solenoid just one wire from A8 straight to the solenoid. And make sure the vtec pressure switch has a wire going from it, to a solid ground, and to its correct pinout on the ECU (Dunno which that is, do some research if you dont know)
So solid connection to vtec solenoid, solid connection to vtec pressure switch, and solid ground to thermo housing from vtec pressure switch, make sure you got all that down first, then you can get rid of those things as possible problems

actually i am using an obd1 distributor and obd1 p28 ecu, i took the internals out of an obd1 distributor and used them in the obd2 distributor casing, you ask why??? i already had the obd2 housing and i also had an obd1 distributor w/ cracked cap so since the car was already wired for obd1 and i didn't want to rewire the obd2 distributor i did it this way.. i know for sure the dizzy is off a vtec engine and i don't believe this is the problem.. i also have the vtec wired up correctly for obd1 which is sockets a4 and d6.
thnks too... you gota have a fast reaction time for a reply that fast
im pretty sure the IAT and IACV plugs are right, but i did almost mix the TPS and IACV around because they also have the same plug... i also have tried other iacv's, but still throws this cell, theres no vacuum leaks and it never threw this cel when i had my b18b1 running... probably going to check the ecu and make sure i have the right plug in that iacv just because i have 2 empty plugs on the harness i have.
i don't even have a intake air temp. sensor on now, this intake manifold that came w/ the engine has no port for the iat sensor, im pretty sure this intake manifold came off something else besides a b16a2... def. need a new IM

Well damn. Well I know what you can do for the IAT, go get one from honda (Cost me $23 + Tax) and drill a dime sized hole in your intake 6-7 inches from your TB, set it in there and then mark the mounting holes and drill small holes, then mount it with self tapping screws (exactly what i did) then just hook it up. My IM had the place for the IAT but needed to be tapped and drilled to mount it, so i just drilled my intake to save time and cost.
yep, i have the slot for the iat, just need to tap it and get the sensor.
