My car wont rev past 6500 but supposed to be 8700. any ideas. revs to 8700 if there is no load on engine(example: when clutch is in it will go to 8700) no CEL light. The car is a 95 ex w/a built b18c1,gm 3 bar,turbo'd and is tuned on crome. The car was fine untill this pass friday when I went to the track and got in the burnout box and the car woldnt rev pass 7500(cel was blinking as the shift light at 7500 insted of 8700. Well the next day I tested it and it wouldnt go over 6500. If anyone can help PLEASE!!!!

 

You might try to reburn your chip.

Does it feel like you are hiting your revlimter at 6500rpm? If so I think Its your ecu.

 

Swap out dizzy and report back...had the same issue and my distributor was shot.

 

yea sohc_mshue (matt) was at the track and he reburned my chip but did the samething. I will try the dizzy today!

 

yea thats a good point it could be the dizzy not reading rpms properly.

 

Make sure your ecu is grounded good, maybe add a wire from the corner to car chassis.

 

thanks guy i fixed the porblem. The distributor was going bad!
