I have a 98 honda civic hatch but my front end is off I have a different hood but I dont know what year it came off because i heard the 99 and up are diff. HOW can you tell???

My problem is that it dose not sit flush with the front tip of fenders it stays up a bit and does not align with the top of the front grill. I moved down the hood adjustment ****'s on the left and right side and I adjusted the latch as far down as i could but no cigar. ***** has a gap about 5/8 between the hood lights and the top of the front grill.
