Default Redline problem

I recently bought a 2008 honda civic si. The redline has always kicked in at 8000 rpms, but now it hesitates at 7000-7500 rpms, and almost seems to bounce off the rev-limiter at 7500 rpms... The check engine light isn't on, and everything else seems normal with the car. My car doesn't even have 3000 miles on it yet... wtf is the problem????

I guess break in periods don't really exist anymore.

sounds like your pushing it to hard. any new motor needs to be broken in.

No sir they do not.

They come with a special Honda break in oil....but the engines themselves are NOT broken in. You need to wait the specified number of miles before becoming aggressive with the car.

What octane gas are you using?

If the engine isnt warmed up it ecu has a second rev limited around 7500rpm or so till the engine is up to temp.
