Default Fuel pump fuse just started breaking

The 15A fuse for the Fuel Pump just started breaking. I cam back from driving the car around the block, shut the car off, then turned the ignition to the ON position and the ground wire for the fuel pump started smoking! I changed the ground wire to a lower gauge (16 to 14 I think), replaced the 15A fuse and turned the ignition back ON. Fuse broke again immediately. I'm also no longer to connect to my AEM EMS! I think the ecu uses this same fuse for power??

I'm hesitant to try a 20A fuse, should I try? I haven't changed anything to the setup other than I started using a smart battery charger (http://www.batterystuff.com/battery-...-021-0128.html).

and the fuel pump I'm using is an Aeromotive A1000

Well, it's definitely the fuel pump that's causing the fuse to blow. When I unplugged the pump the fuse will not break and I can connect to the EMS again. I'm using the fuel pump relay kit from Painless Wiring. Why do you ask?

I don't know why this started happening, I've drove the car a few times like this just fine. The runs on methanol (M1) and I was told the A1000 would be adequate to use with it.

In the troubble shoting flow sheet it says that the A1000 PUMP is not for alcohol..

It has probebly sized up on you due to that alcahol is to dry and dont provide any luberication as gas do.

Aeromotive is the one who recommended this pump. I'm using Klotz Uplon lube additive and have been draining the meth out of the entire fuel system after every use. I guess I need to contact them..
