I'm looking to replace my carsound catalytic converter. A couple of years ago it started rattling, then it stopped (my guess is I shot the loose pieces out of the exhaust).
My check engine light is on. I haven't dropped the converter out yet cause I have nothing to replace it with but I'm sure it's almost hollowed out by now
Considering I used to barely drive my ITR, this is quite disappointing in terms of longevity. But maybe they weren't designed for -40°C weather
Where can I buy a 2.5" universal cat that is of higher quality and reliability than the magnaflow/carsound cat? I'd be interested in trying out the renault cat that Hytech uses, is this the same one: http://www.1aauto.com/1A/Catal...iance.
Thanks!

My Carsound cat "gutted" itself on a 300 miles trip to the beach, it was not fun...stopping every 10 miles to pull the pieces out of my hot muffler with a coat hanger...i will never own one again...
Those in the link are not the ones Hytech uses... IMO they look like a replacement cat. The cat that I currently have on my GSR looks similar to those and I have no complants about it yet.
This is the best pic I have of the Renault that Hytech uses. I am sure John can sell these by themselves but I would expect it to be around $300.

I had a Jeg's universal 3-way 2.5" cat on my old R. Way back when, they were about $50. Last time I looked, they were about triple that.
And you have to find a place that will weld on the O2 sensor bung.

That's a pretty good article about high-flow cats.
I've got a spun-bodied cat like the one they tested in that article...I'm happy with it, but it's not like I'm making big power anyway

I think you can find a 100 and 300 cell version of that.

I'm confused is Renault the brand of cat or the car brand that the cat was designed for? Googling renault cat comes up with the latter and none of the former or at least I didn't see any reference

try a better search >>spun bodied cat

spun cats are not all metal core.
The most durable cat is metal core. The JC whitney one for $180 is the one you want.
She flows strong, my JRSC ITR shoots flame with this setup, never did that on the stock cat.....Don't know how your second O2 sensor/OBD2 setup will fair.

Finally I was able to find a pic of the elusive Renault catalytic converter that Hytech uses (thank you team-integra.net).
Anyone know where I can get one (besides from Hytech)?
